Mélissette

Born in Australia and based in France, Mélissa studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and co-edited the music magazine Limelight before moving to Paris and discovering her voice in jazz. She has sang in the French capital’s most authentic jazz bars – Caveau de la Huchette, 38 Riv, Caveau des Oubliettes, Le Piano Vache (residency), 1905 Cocktail club... With her quartet The Dirty Dandies, Mélissa was the headlining artist in the 2019 Christmas and New Year festivities at the Parisian branch of The Hoxton hotel, and has performed at private events in Paris and Rouen. In duo with piano or guitar, she especially loves to interpret the Great American Songbook and swing repertoire, telling stories and connecting deeply with her audience through jazz : she sings Billie Holiday's blues with fresh ears... and fresh heartache ; she channels the playful, uplifting spirit of Ella Fitzgerald, with a vintage touch of Betty Boop meets Norah Jones.
